Tuesday headlines

Amnesty internationally report on rights abuses makes Cheney mad. Cheney mad! Cheney crush!

"Frankly, I was offended by it," Cheney said in the videotaped interview. "For Amnesty International to suggest that somehow the United States is a violator of human rights, I frankly just don't take them seriously."

Cheney is the latest Bush administration official to object to the report. On Sunday, Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Richard Myers called the Amnesty International report "absolutely irresponsible."

Of course. We'd never do anything wrong. Just go back to your reality television. Everything will be OK. We don't send captives to other nations for torture. We don't hold people indefinitely without review. We don't use radiological warfare to poison the nation we went to liberate.
Speaking of DU, there is a bill in front of congress,
that calls for medical and scientific studies on the health and environmental impacts from the U.S. Military's use of depleted uranium (DU) munitions in combat zones, including Iraq. The McDermott bill also calls for cleanup and mitigation of sites in the U.S. contaminated by DU.
Raw Story has the lead on the latest smear on Hillary Clinton. They will attack the Law and Order show for including mention of how fundamentalist racist judge haters might have been inspired by Delay. Then they will attack Pelosi and Clinton. Here is the strategy. See if it shows up on te talking head shows.
"Then he suggested some '“zingers' for GOP Members to use on the subject," Akers adds. "Criticize NBC'’s Katie Couric for one. And secondly and most importantly, he said, "“Turn the tables for a minute: You never see TV shows depicting a 15-year-old teenage girl driving across the state border to get an abortion with a Nancy Pelosi or Hillary Clinton T-shirt on."
Just as a note, abortion rates went down during the Clinton presidency, and have gone up during Bush. Why? There are a host of reasons, some political, some economical. Why do these jerks want to attack Clinton? Because Hillary Clinton believes in rare but legal abortions. This is what the majority of the nation believes in. They need to make her an extremist if they want to beat her.

She believes in using programs that reduce teen pregnancies. Acting like they don't happen, or that kids can be scared away from sex by scary pictures and stories... These things don't help.

I'd expect even more crazy attacks on Hillary from the Bush team.
